Senior Capstone Design Project: Formula SAE Test Bench

I worked with a capstone team to design, build, and validate a differential test bench for Formula Buckeyes.

Formula Buckeyes needed a way to measure torque bias in its limited-slip differential under controlled conditions.

What I did: I worked with the capstone team to design, fabricate, and validate a differential test bench. The team combined mechanical design, structural analysis, motor control, and data acquisition to measure torque response. The completed bench came in under budget and supports future drivetrain testing.

Tools and methods: Dual Marathon Electric motors, variable frequency drives, chain-driven loading, structural analysis, and data acquisition.
